Gardaí at Blanchardstown are investigating an incident which occurred at Laurel Lodge Road, Castleknock at approximately 2.20am this morning.

Pair arrested after taxi hijacked in Dublin

Gardaí at Blanchardstown are investigating an incident which occurred at Laurel Lodge Road, Castleknock at approximately 2.20am this morning.

A taxi picked up two male passengers in the Castleknock area and drove them a short distance to Laurel Lodge Road where they requested him to stop the vehicle.

Both male passengers then threatened the taxi driver, ordered him out of his vehicle and drove away in the taxi.

The stolen taxi was stopped by gardaí on the Howth Road at approximately 3.20am and two males, ages 20 and 28 years respectively, were arrested. A knife was also recovered.

Both men are currently detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 4 –Criminal Justice Act 1984.
