Overcrowding sees operations cancelled at Beaumont Hospital

Operations are being cancelled at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin due to staff shortages and the effects of Emergency Department overcrowding.

It has been reported that one of the 11 theatres has been closed every day since the New Year, rotated across specialities.

One of the two neurology theatres was closed for two days last week, and will be again tomorrow.

The Irish Times reports that some of the cancelled procedures are for patients who have been waiting long periods.
