James Reilly is under fire today following revelations regarding the selection of hospital facilities due for improvement in 2011.
It emerged yesterday that Ministers Brendan Howlin and Phil Hogan confirmed the commencement of work on their local hospitals in Wexford and Kilkenny in the summer of 2011, a number of days before a HSE board meeting to decide the locations.
It has prompted opposition parties to call for his resignation, with Sinn Féin Health Spokesman Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin saying the government's credibility is at stake.
