One in 10 taxi drivers has not registered with the National Transport Authority's safety app.

All drivers are required to enter their details with Driver Check so customers can confirm their identity.

Failure to register incurs a fine of €40.

The NTA says 29 drivers have had to pay a higher penalty this year after being prosecuted for failing to pay the initial fine.
