Businessman Denis O'Brien has said that Fine Gael asked him to give the party a donation of $50,000.
The final report of the Moriarty Tribunal was published yesterday and one of its findings was that a $50,000 donation to Fine Gael was made through Telenor on behalf of Denis O'Brien's company Esat Digifone.
It also concluded that former Minister Michael Lowry helped businessman Denis O'Brien to secure the State's second mobile phone licence by giving him valuable information.
Meanwhile, the possibility of holding a Dáil debate on the findings of the final report of the tribunal will be discussed by party whips later.
Fianna Fáil has called for the report to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions immediately and Sinn Féin has said it requires immediate debate.
