Ireland's two main nursing unions have decided to bring their pay claim back to the Labour Court in response to the recently published benchmarking report.

The Irish Nurses Organisation and the Psychiatric Nurses Association abandoned a campaign of industrial action last year after being promised that they would get a sympathetic hearing from the benchmarking body.

However, the body has instead recommended no pay increases for the vast majority of nurses.

The INO and PNA say they are bitterly disappointed with the report and expect the Labour Court to deal with their pay claim.

The court has already ruled that the claim should be pursued through the benchmarking process.
