There has been a mixed response to the latest live register figures which show the numbers signing on is down to 10.5%.

Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton has welcomed the new figures, highlighting the fact that 141,000 people left the live register to take up work during 2014.

However, the National Youth Council of Ireland has expressed disappointment at an increase in the number of under-25s on the live register last month.

The Council said the Government needed to focus on the youth unemployment rate which stands at nearly 22%.
