The number of mortgage accounts in arrears of more than 90 days on private homes dropped by just over 6,000, from the third quarter of 2013 to the first three months of this year.

The number of mortgage accounts in arrears of more than 90 days on private homes dropped by just over 6,000, from the third quarter of 2013 to the first three months of this year.

Data from the Department of Finance also shows that the number of accounts in arrears continues to fall, by over 3,000 in the same period.

Over 65,000 private mortgages have been restructured.

Meanwhile, there has also been a slight fall in the number of Buy to Let mortgages in arrears.

The figures were compiled using information from the six main lenders.
