The Finance Minister has confirmed that the government will not have to introduce a tougher than expected budget next month - despite a projected reduction in economic growth next year.

The Finance Minister has confirmed that the government will not have to introduce a tougher than expected budget next month - despite a projected reduction in economic growth next year.

Yesterday the government revised downwards its economic growth forecast for Ireland for 2013 by three quarters of a percentage point.

But Michael Noonan said the government is still committed to introducing a budget of €3.5 billion in December:
