No FF position on abortion Bill after four-hour meeting

Fianna Fáil is putting off a decision on whether to support the Government's proposed legislation on abortion.

The Parliamentary Party met for more than four hours on the issue today and appears to be almost evenly divided on the issue.

They have given health spokesperson Billy Kelleher a brief to engage with the Oireachtas Health Committee hearings on the draft legislation.

The party will return to the issue in the future and is ruling nothing in or out, including a possible free vote for Fianna Fáil TDs and Senators.
