Niall Collins has called Sinn Féin a 'cult'

Fianna Fáil is proposing a new Serious and Organised Crime Unit which it has said would go further than the government's own plans.

But Sinn Féin's plans came in for serious criticism from Niall Collins: “To me, and to most people, Sinn Féin are a cult, they are not a political party.

“I think they are bereft of any credibility, in terms of their stance on the Special Criminal Court and the offences against the State act.

“I think people are appalled and disgusted and I think it really shows them up for what they are, and people are worried about it.”

However, Pearse Doherty has rejected comments from Fianna Fail's justice spokesman, Niall Collins, that 'SF are a dangerous cult'.

Speaking during a debate in Donegal this morning, Sinn Fein's Finance spokesman gave this response.

“Well it’s an insult to the people of Donegal because the people of Donegal voted Sinn Féin the largest political party in the last election.

“And if Fianna Fáil thinks that the people of Donegal are that stupid, to be voting for a cult, then they will have to address that in the next couple of weeks.

“We have stood up for people, we have stood in relation to justice, but we are the party that will put 3,000 additional Gardaí on the street.

“Costed in our Sinn Féin manifesto, we are not going to do what Fianna Fáil did which was close recruitment in Templemore.”
