Voters will go to the polls in the North today to elect 108 new members of the Stormont Assembly.
The parties are attempting to strengthen their representation at the parliament ahead of the deadline for striking a deal on devolution.
The British and Irish governments have given unionists and republicans until March 26 to agree to share power in the administration.
If an agreement is reached, Democratic Unionist leader Ian Paisley and Sinn Féin’s Martin McGuinness could be appointed First and Deputy First Ministers of a new Stormont administration.
Before that, however, nearly 250 candidates will discover their fate at the polls.
