Scientists will launch a new sustainable water management facility in Cork this morning.
The monitoring centre for water quality will help third world countries to clean up their waterways.
The unit will look at freshwater and how it is being cared for across the globe.
Dr Deborah Chapman of University College Cork says they expect their work to have wide ranging impact: “It can from the point of view of managing water resources properly,
“Because proper water resources depend on knowing about the quantity and the quality so in the longer term there will be a greater effort to link water quantity with water quality, which is very important.”
