New poll shows lead for Yes campaign
The latest EU Fiscal Treaty poll has revealed a small shift towards voting No among undecided voters, but not enough to defeat the proposal.
The latest RED C/Paddy Power poll suggests that the treaty currently remains likely to be ratified, with the proportion of supporters remaining relatively stable.
A total of 59% of respondents claimed that they will definitely vote in the referendum, with 14% suggesting they will definitely not or are very unlikely to go and vote. RED C poll analysis excludes this 14%.
Half of all likely voters claim that they will vote Yes to ratify the treaty, 31% claim they will vote No and 19% remain undecided.
When these ‘undecided’ voters are excluded, the Yes side enjoys 62% of the vote and 38% are left voting No.
The largest proportion of support for the treaty lies primarily among older, 55+ age groups, higher social grades and those residing in Dublin and ROL.
Those aged 18-24 and residents of Connacht/Ulster are the most likely to vote No -however even in these demographics when undecided voters are excluded the treaty would still be passed.
According to the poll, Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Labour voters are becoming more likely to vote Yes for the referendum, while supporters of Sinn Féin and Independents are more likely to be No vote supporters.
