New poll boost for FF

There's another big boost for Fianna Fáil in an opinion poll to be published tomorrow, the third for the party in a matter of weeks.

But the Red C poll for the Sunday Business Post sees Fine Gael remain the most popular party in the country.

This poll is the third in which FF has seen a massive jump in support - with polls for the Irish Times and Sunday independent in recent weeks putting the party as the most popular in the country.

Despite going up five points in the past month to 26% - they were unable to overtake Fine Gael in this poll - who remain unchanged on 28%.

This poll is good news for the Government parties as Labour go up one percentage point to 12.

The big losers are Sinn Féin and Independents who both lose three points each to 16% and 18%.

The poll was taken among more than 1,000 voters nationwide last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

STATE OF THE PARTIES

Fine Gael: 28% (no change)

Labour: 12% (+1%)

Fianna Fáil: 26% (+5%)

Sinn Fein: 16% (-3%)

Independents/others: 18% (-3%)
