New energy company promises big savings

A new player in the residential energy market says it can offer the equivalent of up to a day's free energy every week for an average home.

Energia - which already has a sizeable portion of the commercial energy market - is now supplying electricity and gas to residential customers.

The company will offer savings of up to 15% off standard rates for gas and electricity - and it is promising to offer further discounts to customers who order both.

Energia says customers could save up to €180 a year on their electricity bill and €125 on their gas bill.
