A new committee to examine the best location and size for the Bertie Bowl has been set up by the cabinet.
The working group will begin consultations with sporting groups immediately and is expected to report back to Government by mid-September.
The group will be headed by Secretary General of the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism to consult on the National stadium.
Although the terms of reference have not been finalised a spokesperson for Minister John O’Donoghue says they will focus on the location and size of the stadium.
There will be representatives from the Departments of the Taoiseach, Tanaiste Campus and stadium Ireland and the OPW on the committee.
After several wide consultations with the sporting bodies like the GAA, IRFU and FAI, they will make their recommendations to Government in mid-September.
