Motorists are being advised to take extra care on the roads today, as wet road conditions and spot flooding affect many parts of the country.

Noel Byrne from AA Roadwatch said that ice conditions had thawed out overnight, but that wet road conditions remained throughout the country, especially in Tralee, Co Kerry; Galway City; Cork City and Letterkenny in Co Donegal.

He added motorists should watch out for spot flooding and only drive through water if they know it's not too deep for their car.
