Mothers affected by homelessness to set up action group

A new Housing Action Group will be launched today in a bid to force the Government to tackle the housing crisis.

It has been set up by mothers who have been affected by homelessness.

Official figures show that six new people are now becoming homeless every day in Ireland.

Housing lists around the country have also grown an average of 42% in the past year.

Niamh Randall, National Spokesperson for the Simon Community says homelessness is rising due to a number of reasons, including the movement away from social housing and an over-reliance on the private rented sector.
