The Seanad is this evening debating calls to ban child beauty pageants in Ireland.
The motion has unanimous support and is being accepted by the Government.
However it's not clear if the motion will have any effect, as the Government believes it may be impossible to legally ban the events.
During the debate, Senator Jillian van Turnhout read quotes from the mother of one girl who took part in a pageant which describes the girl doing her "sassy walk" and her "blow kisses".
The mother's quote then goes on to say that blow kisses translates as "Hey judges! Come get it baby."
The children's minister says she will consider legislation to ban the pageants in Ireland.
However, Frances Fitzgerald has told the Seanad that she does not think she can introduce laws to ban the events altogether.
She was speaking during a debate on a call to ban the events in Ireland, which was passed unanimously.
Minister Fitzgerald says she believes Ireland can put a stop to child pageants without needing to pass new laws.
