Minister: We already knew of concerns about HSE-run hostels

The Minister with responsibility for mental health says a report raising concerns about HSE-run hostels around the country is not telling us "anything we didn't know".

However Kathleen Lynch says she has yet to see the report, and will be meeting the Mental Health Commission today.

Officials from the Inspectorate of Mental Health have reviewed the hostels and highlighted a range of problems for their residents, who were previously moved out of psychiatric hospitals.

The HSE supervises at least 115 of these hostels, but there is no definitive figure on how many people live there.
