Minister vows to involve local communities in Limerick City of Culture

The Minister for Arts Jimmy Deenihan has promised greater local involvement in the Board of Limerick City of Culture.

Mr Deenihan's comments follow the resignation of CEO Patricia Ryan yesterday.

In a statement, Ms Ryan, who once worked as a political aid to the board Chairman Pat Cox, said "speculation had compromised her authority to lead".

Her resignation comes just days after the resignation of Artistic Director, Karl Wallace.

Journalist with the Limerick Leader Alan Owens says there has been major controversy surrounding the appointments to the cultural board.
