Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin is to receive an award for political leadership from the party's women's group this afternoon.

He will receive the accolade at a health-themed lunch in Dublin today.

Vice President of Fianna Fáil Senator Mary White said Deputy Martin is being honoured for enacting the 2004 law which prohibited smoking in enclosed public places.

The lunch, which takes place in the Stillorgan Park Hotel, is also hearing about developments in cancer care from oncologists Dr Cathy Kelly and the independent Senator, Professor John Crown.
