Met Éireann has issued a weather warning for the country with a possibility of heavy thundery showers and localised flooding.

The warning is in force from 9pm tonight until 9pm Saturday.

However, weather forecasters in the UK have warned that with the humid weather set to continue, temperatures could reach up to 30 degrees there, making today the hottest day of the year so far.

Forecasters there say the mercury could creep still further tomorrow, with temperatures as high as 32C as a belt of Iberian weather hits UK shores.

Here, however, Met Éireann is predicting warm weather of up to 24 degrees.
