Met Éireann forecasts gales and heavy rains as two tropical storms hit this weekend

Two tropical storms are set to hit Irish shores by the weekend.

Met Éireann says there will be unsettled weather with Tropical Storms Lee and Maria in the Atlantic "making details uncertain" over Ireland.

The western coast will get the worst of the weather as the storms head towards the UK.

However, they are not expected to bring severe conditions with them.

Saturday will begin with a lot of dry weather but with some showers and rain spreading north later.

Met Éireann Meteorologist Matthew Martin said: "So at the moment it looks like the worst of the weather will be on Saturday night into Sunday, and we can expect some heavy rain and also some strong winds with some gales along the west coasts

"At the moment we aren't expecting anything too severe, but of course that could change in the coming days."
