Members of the technical group in the Dáil are calling on the Government to postpone the Childrens' Referendum on Saturday.
The five Independent TDs calling for emergency legislation to allow for the Childrens' Referendum to be postponed are Shane Ross, Mattie McGrath, Finian McGrath, Tom Fleming and Thomas Pringle.
It comes after the Supreme Court found that the Government used public money to put out a one-sided argument on the referendum.
Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore has said the referendum is going to go ahead as normal on Saturday, and the merits of a 'Yes' side have not been damaged.
However, Fianna Fáil's Robert Troy has said the ruling has created unnecessary difficulties.
Mr Troy said: "It is extremely frustrating that the Government has again put the Yes side in this difficult situation. It is the second time in a consecutive referendum where they have overstepped their mark and have left the 'Yes' side again explaining their mishandling.
"We are focused on Saturday and the Children's Referendum. This referendum is not about the Government's competence or arrogance."
