McGrath: There is no place for ‘caretaker Taoiseach’

Fianna Fáil's Michael McGrath has said they are very clear on their position on water charges.

The party have identified the scrapping of the charge as a red line issue in negotiations to form a coalition.

McGrath has said that all TDs have a responsibility to form a Government.

The Fianna Fáil TD claims that it is not sustainable to have a “caretaker Taoiseach” while negotiations continue.

“Everyone has to step up to the mark and say what they can do towards the formation of Government,” said McGrath.

“At the end of the day the country will need a Government and it isn’t sustainable to have a caretaker Taoiseach and a caretaker Government.

“There are big decisions to be made for the future of this country. We have a chronic housing crisis, to name just one, and that needs to be dealt with.”
