A Co Mayo man who admitted killing his mother is to stand trial for her murder.

A Co Mayo man who admitted killing his mother is to stand trial for her murder.

This morning at the Central Criminal Court Celyn Eadon pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of 46 year old Noirin Kelly at Derrycrieve, Islandeady in Castlebar on March 9, 2011.

The Director of Public Prosecutions rejected his plea and a jury has been sworn in to try him for murder, which he denies.

He was 19 at the time of the killing.

The case starts on Thursday and is due to last around eight days.
