Man rescued after Comeragh Mountains fall

A Carlow man has been rescued after a fall on the Comeragh Mountains this evening.

The alarm was raised at approximately midday after he fell into a gully in the Mahon Falls area.

The South Eastern Mountain Rescue team were alerted by local gardaí and following an almost three hour operation the man was removed from the scene shortly after 4.30pm.

The experienced climber was taken to hospital with lower leg and arm injuries and a spokesperson for the rescue team has described it as a very complex rescue due to the uneven terrain.
