Man released after Crossan murder questioning

A man arrested in connection with the murder of a former dissident republican has been released by police.

The 24-year-old was freed unconditionally, a PSNI spokeswoman said.

Tommy Crossan was shot dead as he sat in a hut at a fuel business off Springfield Road in west Belfast.

It is believed the 43-year-old had been expelled from the anti-peace process Continuity IRA after falling out with other dissidents.

The killing was condemned by Northern Ireland’s First and Deputy First Ministers.
