Man killed in Tyrone crash
A pensioner has become the first person to die in a crash on the North’s roads this year.
The man, aged 65, was in a Jaguar car which was in collision with two other vehicles on the main road between Newtownstewart and Victoria Bridge, Co. Tyrone.
A man and woman in a Range Rover and the driver of an Audi A4 were taken to Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry, but although the condition of the woman was described as serious, none of the injuries is believed life threatening.
The name of the dead driver – who was in the Jaguar on his own – has not been released. The accident happened yesterday.
A total of 56 people were killed on the North’s roads last year, compared to 48 in 2012 – the lowest on record.
