Man jailed for sex with mentally impaired cousin
A 50 year-old Dublin man has been jailed for five years for having sex with his mentally impaired cousin.
The man, who cannot be named, admitted the sexual relationship over a five-year period, but told gardaí that he did not know the woman had a disability.
In a victim impact statement, the 44 year-old said she felt dirty and used, and was worried her family would not believe her.
The court was told the woman visited her cousin for an annual summer holiday, and since the case came to light, she has not had any holidays.
He was jailed for five years at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court today.
