A man has appeared in court following an armed robbery at a supermarket in Gorey, Co. Wexford yesterday.

A man has appeared in court following an armed robbery at a supermarket in Gorey, Co. Wexford yesterday.

The man walked into a supermarket on Coach Road at around 3.40pm yesterday wearing a red balaclava. He threatened staff with a knife and left with a sum of money.

Gardai arrived at the scene and arrested a 35-year-old man who was taken to Gorey Garda station.

No one was injured and a sum of money was also recovered

At 9:30pm last night, the man was charged and brought before a special sitting of Gorey District Court. He was remanded in custody to appear at Wexford District Court tomorrow morning at 10:30am.
