A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his mother.
Danny Heyneman (31), of Kilnavart, Ballyconnell in Co Cavan, is charged with the murder of Annie Heyneman (55) on Saturday night.
He is also charged with the attempted murder of his father, Henk Heyneman, on the same date.
Wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, Heyneman appeared at Monaghan District Court on Wednesday morning.
Detective Sergeant Sharon Walsh of Cavan Garda Station told Judge Ray Finnegan that Heyneman was arrested and charged on Tuesday.
In response to both the charges under caution, she said Heyneman responded: “No comment.”
He was remanded in custody at Cloverhill Prison to appear before a judge at the Cavan courthouse by videolink on Friday.
An application for legal aid was granted.
