Kerry Mountain Rescue Team were called to the aid of a walker in his 70s today at 12.15pm.

Kerry Mountain Rescue Team were called to the aid of a walker in his 70s today at 12.15pm.

The man was walking on Strikeen Mountain in the Gap of Dunloe area of the McGillycuddy's Reeks.

The walker was treated at the scene of the incident for a suspected broken ankle and stretchered to the main road where he was transferred to a waiting ambulance and taken to Kerry General Hospital for further medical treatment.

15 members of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team were involved in the rescue, and the callout concluded at 13.45pm.
