A man in his 60s, who was struck by a car while cross the road in Galway last night, has died in hospital.

A man in his 60s, who was struck by a car while cross the road in Galway last night, has died in hospital.

The man was hit by a car as he crossed the road in Ardrahan village at around 7.30pm.

The car left the scene and the injured man was taken to hospital, where he passed away this afternoon.

Gardaí in Gort are appealing for witnesses.

They wish to speak to the occupants of what is described as a white van - possibly a Volkswagen Caddy or similar - and a black-coloured car that were seen in the area at the time.
