A man is receiving treatment in Galway following a four-hour stand-off with Gardaí.

Emergency services were alerted when a man, said to be carrying a fuel container, climbed onto the roof of the Radharc an Chláir apartment building on Grattan Road in Salthill at around 5.30pm yesterday evening.

The man, who is in his 40s, was taken uninjured from the rooftop by officers shortly before 10pm last night.
