Man held after Cork grow house discovered

A 32-year-old man has been arrested after the discovery of a cannabis growhouse with €50,000 worth of plants near Newmarket in north Cork.

Gardai made the find when they searched a rented house on the Charleville Road at around 9pm last night.

Between 50 and 60 cannabis plants of varying levels of maturity were discovered in what Gardai say was a sophisticated growhouse operation with lights and plant nutrients.

A Polish national was arrested at the scene and been brought to Mallow Garda Station for questioning.

The scene is preserved and a technical examination is underway.
