A man in his forties is in a serious condition after an assault in Dublin late last night.

Man fights for life after late-night assault in Dublin

A man in his 40s is in a serious condition after an assault in Dublin late last night.

It happened on Cork Street just after midnight.

The man was rushed to St James's Hospital where he is currently being treated.

A 20-year-old man was arrested a short time later and he is being held for questioning at Kevin Street Garda Station.

Cork Street was closed while a technical examination was carried out but has since reopened.
