Man due in Dublin court over Sonia Blount death

A man is due in court in Dublin shortly charged in connection with the murder of Sonia Blount in Tallaght.

31-year-old Blount booked into the Plaza hotel on Saturday night.

It is understood she was on her own, but Gardaí have been trying to establish if she met somebody there.

At around 3.30pm the following afternoon, a cleaner found her lifeless body lying on the floor of her room.

Gardaí upgraded their investigation to a murder inquiry yesterday evening after receiving the results of a post mortem. It is believed she may have been strangled.

Several hours after Sonia's body was found, a man in his early 30s presented himself to Gardaí at Store Street.

He was arrested and interviewed at Tallaght Garda Station where he was charged in connection with the young mother's death.

He is due to be brought before Tallaght District Court this morning.
