A man is due in court today charged in connection with the death of a man in Dublin on Saturday night.

A man is due in court today charged in connection with the death of a man in Dublin on Saturday night.

62-year-old Cathal Sweeney died in hospital after being found with head injuries at a flat in Terenure.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Ashdale Gardens just before 6pm on Saturday evening.

They found Cathal Sweeney at the flat, and he was rushed by ambulance to St James' Hospital for treatment to what is believed to have been head injuries, however he died later.

It is understood he had been watching the Ireland v Wales rugby match with two other men when a row broke out.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and taken to Terenure Garda station for questioning, where he is been held since Saturday night.

He is now due to appear in court this morning, charged in connection with Mr Sweeney's death.
