A man has died following a single-vehicle road accident in Co Wexford last night.

A man has died following a single-vehicle road accident in Co Wexford last night.

Gardaí were alerted on the Newtown Road, Wexford, at approximately 5.05am when the car collided with a wall.

The 30-year-old driver was removed by ambulance to Wexford General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The road has been closed for a forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have been on the road in the early hours of this morning to contact them in Wexford on 053 - 9165200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
