A man in his 80s has died in a two car crash in Co Donegal.

A man in his 80s has died in a two car crash in Co Donegal.

It happened at around 3.30pm this afternoon on the Donegal town to Ballybofey Road, around 7 kilometres outside Donegal Town.

The elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sole occupant of the other car, a 64-year-old woman, was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital, but her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The road is currently closed while Gardaí carry out a forensic examination of the scene. Diversions are in place.
