A man who was injured in an assault in Navan Co Meath last week has died in hospital.

Man dies after Navan assault

A man who was injured in an assault in Navan Co Meath last week has died in hospital.

The victim, from eastern Europe, was aged in his 20s.

He was injured in an incident in the Academy Street area of Navan town last Thursday.

He died in Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, Dublin earlier today.

A post mortem is being carried out to determine whether the assault investigation will be upgraded.
