It has emerged that a man died 500m from a Kildare garda station earlier this month after it took 25 minutes for an ambulance to attend the scene from Naas General Hospital - less than one kilometre away.

Paddy Meaney, a 46-year-old father of four, died from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome on May 19. His 14 year old daughter was with him at the time.

Gardaí at Naas resuscitated the Waterford man twice while waiting for the paramedics to arrive but the only ambulance on call in the region was already attending a patient elsewhere.
