A man has been arrested after a robbery at a service station in Tallaght last night.

A man has been arrested after a robbery at a service station in Tallaght last night.

The man entered the service station on Old Belgard Road shortly before 8.30pm last night holding a syringe and threatened staff there.

He fled the scene on foot with a small amount of cash, before being arrested close to the scene a short time later.

He was detained at Tallaght Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Gardaí recovered cash and have preserved the scene for technical examination.

They have charged the 34-year-old man in connection with the robbery and he is due to appear before Tallaght District Court this morning.
