Man charged with Mairead Moran's murder; Judge orders psychiatric assessment
A 27-year-old man has been charged with the murder of 26-year-old Mairead Moran in Kilkenny on Thursday evening.
Shane Smyth with an address at Flat 3, Mc Guinness House, Evans Lane in Kilkenny city appeared before Judge Eamon O' Brien at a special sitting of Kilkenny district court this afternoon.
He has been remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court next Friday, May 16.
The judge has ordered that a full medical and psychiatric assessment be carried out on Shane Smyth in the coming days.
