Man behind Stone Roses tribute act sues MCD for damages

A man who set up the tribute act 'The Complete Stone Roses' is suing music promoters MCD for damages claiming they tried to take over the running of the band.

Peter Lamb of Westfield, Cumbernauld in Scotland is also suing members of the group who he claims conspired with MCD to breach their contracts with him.

The High Court heard Lamb formed the tribute act in the late 1990s.

Described as a 'modest businesman' he worked hard organising tours in Ireland and the UK and hiring new band members as the line-up evolved.

In 1999 he struck a deal with MCD giving them exclusive rights to promote the group in Dublin but by late 2004 relations had soured.

He alleges MCD conspired with band members to breach their contracts with him and that gigs in Castlebar and Dublin were cancelled – the promoters having claimed the fee for the Dublin show in the Ambassador was too high.

He also claims there were subsequent efforts to pass off tribute act 'The Stone Roses Experience' as 'The Complete Stone Roses' during a tour in 2005.
