A man in his 20's has been arrested after a fatal collision in Galway on Wednesday night.

A man in his 20's has been arrested after a fatal collision in Galway on Wednesday night.

It happened on the Gort Road in Loughrea at around 8.30pm.

A cyclist, 68-year-old John White of St Laurences Field in Loughrea, died shortly after the collision at University College Hospital in Galway.

The man who has been arrested is being held at Loughrea Garda station.
