Investigators at the scene of the shooting in June.

A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a six-year-old in Dublin in June.

Sean Skully suffered spinal injuries in the attack near his home at Croftwood Gardens in Ballyfermot. He was shot in the neck.

It is reported that the boy was standing in the hallway of the house when two men knocked on the front door. Finding it already ajar, they pushed it open and fired into the hallway.

The suspect was picked up on Saturday evening under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.

He was taken to Ballyfermot garda station for questioning and was released without charge on Sunday evening.

Gardaí say a file is being prepared for the DPP.

This is the second arrest in connection with the investigation.
